BRADFORD Park Avenue will hope to go one better tonight and bank their first win of the new National League North season after a disappointing home draw at the weekend.

Avenue were 2-1 up against relegated Alfreton Town when the home side went down to nine men. But Nicky Law’s side rescued a draw from the season’s opener with a stoppage-time penalty.

Bradford boss Martin Drury said: “It was disappointing the way that we gave two points away but I thought there were positives to take from it.

“We dominated possession for 60 or 70 minutes against a very good side, a side who had only just come down from a division higher. I was pleased with way we passed the ball and moved off the ball in those spells when we were on top.

“There were some good individual performances such as from Michael Potts, who took his two goals excellently. But I’m more interested in team performances and I want us to keep our concentration and work harder.”

Avenue travel to a Stalybridge Celtic side looking for their first points of the campaign. It will be the Celts’ first home game after they lost 2-1 at Hednesford Town at the weekend.

Drury has added Tom Burgin to his squad, the 24-year-old signing from Worksop Town. Predominantly a midfielder, Burgin can also play right back and he joins former team-mates Alex Pursehouse and Jon Stewart at Avenue.

Seb Carole has also signed a short-term deal, the former Monaco and Leeds United forward having been involved with Avenue throughout pre-season.

Guiseley - who have added central defender Zac Thompson and goalkeeper Daniel Atkinson to their ranks, both arriving from Elland Road - host National League football for the first time tonight as the Lions welcome Lee Sinnott's Altrincham.

Both sides suffered 1-0 defeats in their opening games, Guiseley losing at Welling United while Alti were beaten at home by Forest Green Rovers.

In the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division, Liversedge host Thackley in the first derby of the season.

The visiting Dennyboys will be more confident after opening their campaign with a 2-1 win, while Sedge were held to a goalless draw at newly-promoted Clipstone.
