Beeston St Anthony’s 2 Pool 1

POOL were left frustrated by two key refereeing decisions which went against them as they suffered a West Yorkshire League Premier defeat.

The first point of contention was a penalty awarded for Beeston when a Pool defender appeared to win the ball.

The referee didn't agree with their view of events and St Anthony's took advantage to net the winning goal.

Pool's mood wasn't improved when the match official rejected their appeals for a penalty for what they felt was a clear hand ball.

The match was full of good football. Beeston had the best of the first half, taking a deserved lead before rattling the crossbar, then the post.

Pool's best chance coming when Tom Smith headed on a cross into the path of Scott Cater, his powerful shot being well saved by the Beeston keeper.

The second half saw Pool produce some of the best football of the match, giving them a deserved equaliser when Smith put in a cross for Cater, who gave the keeper no chance with his finish.

Pool continued to pursue a winner, but fell foul of the penalty situations before hitting the bar in the dying minutes against their accomplished, second-placed rivals.
