Ben Rhydding 3 Durham Univ 6
Ben Rhydding have reached the halfway point in the season still searching for their first win.
Once again they paid for giving away too many penalty corners.
Ben Rhydding failed to convert three penalty corners early in the game while Jess Purvis and Abby Brant both went close to scoring.
Durham upped the pace a bit and went 2-0 up before Brant created a chance which Jo Mason slotted home.
Disaster struck in the second half when Durham converted three penalty corners in the first 15 minutes.
Despite being 5-1 down, Rhydding didn’t give up. They continued to attack with the hard-working Rachelle le Bourdon and Jo Taylor getting the ball forward as they played with determination.
Kate Hesketh got a shot away and the ball hit a Durham foot on the goal line which led to a penalty flick which was coolly converted by Brant.
A stick tackle in front of goal on Rachel Doherty brought another penalty flick and another Brant goal.
Durham rounded off the scoring in the last league game until February 2.
