Another week meant another fine performance on the track from Otley Athletics Club’s Racheal Bamford, who won two gold medals in the Yorkshire Track & Field Championships at Cudworth, South Yorkshire.

On the first day of the two-day event, she won the 3,000 metres in 9min 39.80sec, followed by victory in the 1,500m on Sunday in 4:27.00.

Ian Fisher won the second event in the Harrogate & District Summer Race League in 32:16. Jamil Parapia was sixth in 34:11 and Scott Harrington seventh (34:21).

Karen Best was the first Otley lady in 70th place (40:59). Laura Martin was 96th (42:44) and Tamara Weatherhead 110th (43:26).

The event also formed part of Otley’s own club handicap series in which Phil Robinson took maximum points, followed by Neil Charlton and Matt Podd.

After five events, Robinson leads the table from Podd and Ursula McGouran.

At the third race in the John Carr 5km Series at Esholt, Liam Dunne finished 18th with a personal best of 16:46.

The final race of the series was won by Will Smith (Keighley & Craven) in 15:49 and the first lady in 48th overall was Helen Barber (Horsforth) in 17:56.

In the Apperley Bridge Canter, Lloyd Best finished 62nd (41:17), Karen Best (72nd) 42:02, Matt Podd 128th (45:13), Billy Rayner 197th (49:31), Pange Srivastava 212th (50:28) and Lisa Maughan 268th (53:22).

The race was won by Phillip Tedd (Woodhouse Grove/Sale Harriers) in 33:06 and the first lady in 25th was Aiveen Fox (Horsforth Harriers) in 38:22.

Howard Jeffrey finished 36th in 43:30 in the Melmerby 10km, followed by Tom Hannah 82nd (49:57) and Dave Hainsworth 106th (53:39).

The race was won by Mike Appleton (Ripon) in 34:22 and the first lady in 12th overall was Emma Yates (Knavesmire) in 38:18.

Andy Hunt took part in the Badger Stone Fell Relays on Ilkley Moor, running two legs for the Kean team that finished tenth overall in 60:44.

There were three legs of two miles, and the race was won by Howgill Harriers in 49:46.
