YEADON continued their improved form with a four wickets win over visitors Lightcliffe on Saturday.

They dismissed their visitors for 197 despite opener Michael Brooke giving them a good start with a knock of 35. Some solid if unspectacular batting saw Lightcliffe build their score with Jonothan Wilson contributing 21, James Horne 33 and Jacob Travis boosting the score with a fine 36 from the number eight spot.

Amir Sajjad again did well with the ball for Yeadon picking up 3-47 off 12 overs but the star was undoubtedly Saif Malik with 3-33 off his 12, five of which were maidens. Richard Machell picked up a couple of wickets and there was one apiece for Steve Lawrence and Sajjad Ijaz.

Jonny Henry gave Yeadon a good start to their innings with a knock of 49. He shared an opening stand of 46 with Steve Lawrence (15) and was then second out with the total on 93. He had shared a second wicket stand of 47 with Aimer Sajjad who went on to make 61 with his 50 coming up off 77 balls. His innings included 2 sixes and 8 fours.

Sajjad provided the backbone of the Yeadon innings and he gained some further support from skipper Dave Leather who was unbeaten with 24.

He and wicketkeeper Luke Holroyd, with 8 not out, steered Yeadon to victory and they picked up 17 points to Lightcliffe's five.

Esholt lost out to Manningham Mills after being dismissed for 198. James Soulsby finished as top scorer with 45 from the number three spot He and Basil King (32) shared a third wicket stand of 47 as their side in the main struggled against the bowling of Nasser Jamal who took 3-43 and Mahboob Hussain who took 4-24 off eight overs.

Esholt lost four wickets in moving from 171 to 179 thus forgoing the chance of building a big score.Nadeem Hanif soon got among the wickets giving Esholt a fighting chance and he continued to take wickets at regular intervals finishing with 6-61 off 13 overs .

Mills however had the upperhand with a match winning innings from Afsar Nawaz who blasted 50 off 46 balls and included 1 six and 9 fours. He was finally caught for 80 by Ben Lister off the bowling of Hanif.

Mills edged home with six overs to spare as Hanif was unable to find a partner in top form.

Will Darby led Yeadon Seconds to a nine wickets win at Bradford and Bingley with a swashbuckling 61 not out. He hammered 17 off the fifth over as he opened the innings in style.Darren Machell contributed 28 no. There were three wickets each for Dave Summerscales and Jon Carey.
