ESHOLT enjoyed more success at the weekend taking 17 points from their Second Division win at Bankfoot.

They now await the derby game with Yeadon at Esholt Lane on Saturday.

Bankfoot were restricted to 207-9 despite the efforts of Neil Nicholson (58 no) and Jonathon Lister (48). Nadeem Hanif had the first success having Simon Curry adjudged lbw for one. Lister picked up a couple of wickets but taking the bowling honours was Shahid Bashir with 4-46 off 14 overs.

Esholt made a good start with the in form Richard Whitehurst (40) and Khalid Mehmood sharing a stand of 50 Asad Ali removed both Mehmood and Basil King (2) before Bashir came in to top score with 52.

The Esholt tail certainly wagged for after being 143-8 Adrian Taylor (31) and Ben Lister (30no) put on 61 for the ninth wicket.

Matthew Birkby joined Lister while he made the winning runs.

Aimer Sajjad was Yeadon's hero as they gained an impressive five wickets win over visitors Bowling Old Lane.

Old Lane posted a score of 162-8 struggling against some steady if unspectacular bowling by Yeadon. Sajjad Ijaz bagged 4-86 off 15 overs and Aimer Sajjad 2-19 off 15 overs. It was only a last blast 60 not out from number eight Amid Khan that gave the Old Lane score any respectability.

His side were 123-7 when he came in and the boosted the total with 4 sixes and 6 fours.

Yeadon opened with Jonny Henry and Steve Lawrence but the latter was soon back in the pavilion without scoring and Henry was unhappy to fall lbw for five.

However the classy Aimer Sajjad was in sparkling form and he hammered 6 sixes and 15 fours in an excellent match winning 109 not out. He lost two or three more partners before finding the ally he needed in second team skipper Andrew Pickering who was unbeaten with 14.

Yeadon passed the total with five wickets in hand and this should give them a confidence boost.

Yeadon Seconds had a four runs win over Gomersal who made 208 in repl,y to Yeadon's 212-8 which saw Darren Smith bat well for 58.

Yeadon Seconds went out of the Priestley Shield on Sunday the trophy holders failing to reach the semi-finals. They were facing the side they defeated in last year's final - East Bierley.

The home side made 293-5 and in a rain interrupted innings Yeadon replied with 171-9 in 22 overs, their last batsman unable to return on the Monday night. They lost three vital wickets late on Sunday night.
