What do you get when you mix together Easter Sunday, sunshine, mud and running?

The 15th Guiseley Gallop Trail Race of course, which is organised by Skyrac Athletics Club.

Bright spring sunshine and muddy paths and tracks greeted the 432 competitors in the 2010 Guiseley Gallop, held last Sunday.

They tackled a course around Springs Wood, the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, and Esholt, finishing behind Guiseley’s West Side Retail Park.

Tom Adams of Ilkley Harriers followed up his victory in the Baildon Boundary Way with another win in 36:08, but was pushed hard all the way to the finish by Bingley’s Tim Midgely second in 36:17, with Chris Miller of Harrogate third in 37:21.

The leading lady was Jo Waites of Calder Valley Fell Runners who finishe doverall in 16th position in a time of 41:18.

Unattached runner Sue Brown finished second in 43:132 with Skyrac’s own Emma Inglis, coming on in leaps and bounds finishing third in 45:39.

Fifth placed Colin Walker Pudsey & Bramley was the first male vet 35 in 38:24 with eighth placed Paul Gaile of Pudsey Pacers first male vet 40 in 39:50. Shaun Wilkinson in 12th place for Keighley & Craven was first male vet 45 in 40:27.

All the runners went home not with an Easter egg but with a bottle of Paul Briscoe’s Brewery Guisley Gallop beer to quench their thirsts.

There were a total of 432 finishers, the last coming in in a time of 1hr 33.01.
