GUISELEY made it three league wins on the bounce after defeating Marine 4-2 in a pulsating fixture at Nethermoor on Tuesday evening.

A Gabriel Johnson hat-trick and a Tom Pratt strike helped to seal victory for Liam Tongue in his final game in charge of The Lions, with newly appointed boss Andy Welsh taking over ahead of this weekend’s FA Trophy trip to Walsall Wood.

The players wore black armbands as a tribute to Neil Shackleton, with the former Guiseley chairman and director passing away last week at the age of 61.

After a Tom Denton penalty appeal was turned away by the referee, the visitors broke the deadlock on minute 13 through Darius Osei who made no mistake in heading the visitors in front.

Guiseley responded well and soon flipped the game on its head; Tom Pratt finishing off a brilliant Joe Stacey delivery before the former then turned provider, with his brilliant through ball finding his man out wide ahead of the ball being crossed in for Johnson to poke home.

On minute 40, following a chaotic five-minute period in which three goals were scored, the visitors made it 2-2 through Sol Solomon following a counter attacking situation.

But Guiseley weren’t to be denied an impressive home victory, with Johnson adding two second half goals to his and his team’s tally.

The first came on minute 62 when Stacey floated a great set-piece into the box for Johnson to fire home, while the second and Johnson’s third goal came from a delicious backheel from the inform forward to give Guiseley a brilliant 4-2 win.

Up next for The Lions is a trip to Walsall in the cup on Saturday, with the game getting underway at 3pm.
