YARNBURY’S young side are showing promise and they gave Scarborough a stern test at Brownberrrie Lane.

Yarnbury defended well all over the field in the first quarter but were stretched as they could not get hold of the ball.

Flanker Lewis Wray was sin-binned early on for a high tackle to put extra pressure on the home pack.

Scarborough proved lethal with penalties kicked for the corner which resulted in them scoring three tries from catch and drive moves from the subsequent line-out to establish a 17-0 lead.

Hooker Ian Williams scored twice and and captain Matty Leach once with prop Tom Harrison adding one conversion.

Yarnbury's young pack were no match in physical strength to Scarborough, but they kept plugging away and their side were lofted when stand off Danny Pound opened their account.

Alex Clark made a telling burst after the ball had been worked wide and when he was halted by full back Wakeman, Pound was up in support to score a try which he also converted.

Scarborough would not be denied and scored again just before half-time. Left winger Tom Radcliffe slipped the cover to go over in the corner to give the away side a healthy lead 22-8 lead.

Yarnbury reduced the arrears getting Jack Brown in at the right hand corner to make the game interesting.

Captain Jason Avison marshalled his young backs well as they continued to probe for openings.Youngster Adam Kenvyn came on for his debut whenYarnbury second row James Falgate went off with an injury.

Yarnbury's line-out was disrupted with all the changes and chances to attack went begging.

They persevered and were rewarded with a try in the right corner by Brown. when Scarborough were reduced to 13 men when the referee handed out two yellow cards for high tackles.

With the deficit just four points, Yarnbury were fancying their chances. Scarborough had other ideas and James leach went in for a soft try which was converted by Tom Radcliffe.

Yarnbury earned a bonus point when Jack Brown got in again on the right by outflanking the cover. Pound converting to complete the scoring.

There was even time for the home side to squander a chance to win the game. They created a three-man overlap but the chance went begging when the ball was dropped.
