Field 5 Pool 1

POOL suffered a heavy defeat away to high-flying Field as they completed their West Yorkshire League Premier Division campaign.

Despite the loss, Pool finished in a creditable mid-table position on their return to the top flight.

Pool dominated much of the first half and went ahead when Nick Hewitt got onto the end of a Neil Ebdon cross to head home powerfully.

Pool were looking comfortable until three minutes into added time when Field equalised from a dubious penalty.

The second half belonged to Field as Pool found themselves chasing the game.

Field's second goal was a screamer from just outside the box that even the Pool bench had to applaud. Inevitably gaps appeared in Pool's defence as they pushed for an equaliser, the hosts taking full advantage, to score three more times.

Their fifth goal came right on the final whistle and made the match look more one sided than it was.

Pool should not be too disheartened. As well as consolidating their position in the Premier Division they also reached the semi-finals of the West Riding County Challenge Cup.
