THE Hawks CC entertained old rivals The Druids last Sunday at Bolton Abbey securing a comfortable win.

Batting first the Hawks made a solid start with Charlie Parker Jnr striking 43. David Brook making his Hawks debut hit a stylish 22. Paul Gillson bludgeoned 66 with an array of interesting shots and together with Nick Thornton (81no) they put on 110 for the fourth wicket which allowed 11-year-old Henry Scott to the crease and he caressed 20 not out as the innings closed on 243 for 5 after 35 overs.

The Druids fared poorly against some clever bowling from Will Parker who claimed 3-17. Another Hawks debutant Jonny Blair took 2-23. At 40-5 it looked like the game might be over quickly but Chris Jones had other ideas tucked into the bowling of Micky Peel who finished with 0-55 off five overs.

Peel's replacements Jason and Henry Scott polished off the tail with father, Jason taking a hat-trick without conceding any runs and son Henry 1-9, with the last wicket falling to a brilliant run out by man-of-the match Henry Scott as the Druids innings closed 141.

The Hawks ‘Hanson’ Trophy went to Jonny Blair who supped the two pint tankard in 13.7 seconds and the ‘Clayton Claw’ (in memory of the late Hawks stalwart Charlie Clayton) was awarded to Ed Parker. The Hawks return to action on Sunday May 22 when they visit Escrick Park near York to meet Yorkshire Gents CC, starting at 12 noon.
