Wyke Wanderers 0 Pool 2

POOL produced another fine performance against high-flyers Wyke Wanderers.

They dominated the first half despite Wyke's best efforts to stop them by fair means or foul, so when Temilada Ajimoko fired a powerful shot into the net from the edge of the area, the lead was no more than they deserved.

A superb free kick by Neil Ebdon, brilliantly saved by the Wyke keeper, had almost put them ahead just moments earlier.

Wyke came more into the game in the second half but the Pool defence were well organised, James Carroll and Robert Cross having the home wide men in control.

Max Drake produced another sound performance ably assisted by Matthew White in mid field.

Matthew Doran and Steve Preston gave the Wyke defence plenty to think about. It was late in the game before Pool put the result beyond doubt, a determined run down the right by Ebdon putting Nick Hewit in to head home from close range.

Goalkeeper Andy Caine kept another cleansheet as Pool again proved difficult to score against.
