Having defeated early-season pacesetters New Farnley last Saturday to leapfrog them into third place, Yeadon face another massive match on Sat-urday in Division Two.

They host second-placed Spen Victoria, who lead the High Street club by 21 points.

When the sides met earlier in the season at Spen Lane, Yeadon won by five wickets to record their fourth successive victory.

Left-arm spinner Ben Elvidge took 4-31 as Spen collapsed to 96 all out, and then followed up with an unbeaten 37.

Last Saturday, newcomers New Farnley’s batting also melted away in the scorching sun at Lawns Lane.

They were bowled out for 126 as Yeadon avenged their opening-day defeat.

Australian Shaun Miller (3-21) and Altaf Mohammed (3-28) did the damage.

Yeadon then eased to their target, with Elvidge making 43no as Dave McCallum took 3-32 for New Farnley.

Meanwhile, Yeadon’s second team eased their relegation fears with a comfortable 122-run win over a Hartshead Moor side who have now dropped into the relegation positions.

Ryan Mooney (56), Danny Hall (52) and Darren Machell (45) helped Yeadon to a total of 211.

Hartshead Moor were then dismissed for just 89, with only Laurence Brooke (33) offering much resistance as Richard Marsden took 6-14.

Yeadon have now climbed to ninth with 119 points, putting them six ahead of Bowling Old Lane and 12 in front of Moor.

On Saturday, Yeadon have a good opportunity to triumph again as they travel to bottom club Bradford & Bingley.
