A Wharfedale chef is heading to the heart of Africa – armed with his Yorkshire pudding tins.
Former Prince Henry’s Grammar School student John Bareham has been cooking the region's most famous dish for guests at Peasehill House Hotel, in Rawdon, for some 20 years.
Now the 44-year-old is preparing to share his recipe with communities throughout Africa when he sets off on a trip through ten countries.
The Kenya to South Africa tour is designed so participants can experience a variety of African cultures – so John thought it only fair to take along a taste of Yorkshire for the locals to try, too.
He said: "The purpose of the trip is not specifically to introduce Yorkshire pudding to the darkest corners of Africa, but one of the aims of the Oasis truck safari is to give fellow explorers a ‘taste’ of Africa, both from a culinary and cultural point of view. So I thought I’d give the Africans a little taste of Yorkshire in return."
