A WHARFEDALE teenager will be watched by millions next weekend when she stars in a hit TV show.

Fifteen year old Katie Proctor, from Otley, has landed the guest lead role in the BBC One series' Saturday, May 5 episode.

A Year 10 student at Gateways School, Harewood, Katie has regular acting lessons and masterclasses with YAFTA (Yorkshire Academy of Film and Television Acting) in Leeds.

Her casting for Casualty is the second television role that she has landed in the past 12 months and follows an appearance in the new CBBC series, Creeped Out.

She said: "Filming Casualty was undoubtedly one of the best experiences of my life.

"It was early starts, late finishes and hard work but everyone was kind, supportive and I had a lot of fun too.

"I was in contact with my school whilst I was filming to make sure that I kept up with my schoolwork.

"It was a hugely positive couple of weeks and I can't wait to see the finished product of all the hard work.

"My acting career is going better than I ever imagined.

"I never dreamed I'd have the chance to do anything like this.

"My hope for the future is to continue acting and go to university when I've finished school.

"I am aiming to have the qualifications to support another career in the future as I know how hard it is to succeed in the industry.

"If I do end up stopping acting, however, I'm sure I'll never move far away from the business."

Katie's mother, Cath, added: "Katie's acting experience has come on in leaps and bounds.

"She has now spent two very exciting weeks filming on location, and at the Casualty studios in Cardiff, alongside the show's regular cast members.

"This is Katie's biggest role so far and she loved every moment of the filming."

Katie is currently studying for her GCSEs, which include Drama.

Her first big TV break came in 2013 when she joined a stellar cast, including Oscar winner Jim Broadbent, for a BBC drama called The Great Train Robbery: A Copper's Tale.

She was aged just ten at the time and had been learning her craft at Stage 84 Yorkshire School of Performing Arts.
