ARTISTS, residents and creative people are being asked to volunteer for a festival which has become an important part of Horsforth's calendar.

Organisers of the Horsforth Walk of Art say the countdown has started to this year's event, on July 7and 8, which promises to offer something for everyone. They are now looking for volunteers to take part.

The event's founder and organiser, Lara Rule, said: "The Horsforth Walk of Art promises to be a wonderful weekend festival celebrating our community and the brilliantly creative people living within and around it.

"The weekend will showcase artists, creative residents and community projects as well as every venue hosting free activities and workshops.

"We’re delighted that all the local schools and community groups are getting involved. The Horsforth Walk of Art truly is an event for everyone – you’re never too young or too old to get creative and learn about all things art."

There are several ways to take part and organisers want to hear from artists wanting to exhibit in a garden shed, conservatory or home, residents with space to house an artist, or a resident wanting to host a fun creative activity.

Visit www.horsforth-woa.org to apply to help. All applications need to be in by Sunday, April 1. Venue allocations will be run on a first come, first served basis.

This year's event will be the third Walk of Art. When the festival was launched in 2015 it proved a huge success with hundreds of people turning out to admire exhibits made by schoolchildren, professional artists and residents. Last year the festival exhibited more than 100 local artists and community projects in more than 100 venues across Horsforth.
