OTLEY'S Town Mayor has enjoyed his 'busiest week ever'.

Councillor Nigel Francis delivered thousands of leaflets last week to promote the new fundraising Otley Snowman Trail he is launching this winter.

He then compered at a fete and fashion show at Otley Rugby Club which raised more than £1,000 for St Gemma's Hospice.

That was followed, on Saturday, October 14 with a fundraiser for the mayor's 14+1 appeal at the Church of St John Fisher & St Thomas More, in Burley-in-Wharfedale.

Then on Sunday Cllr Francis attended the display of vintage buses in Otley that was held to mark the 50th year since the popular Ledgard bus company came to an end.

Cllr Francis said: "It shows just what a different and varied week you can have as town mayor.

"The events were very good and a great credit to all the people concerned in staging them.

"This week we hope to finish delivering more than five thousand further Snowman Trail leaflets, before staging a coffee morning / afternoon tea and table-top sale at Otley Rugby Club on Saturday, October 21."

The table-top event, featuring more than 20 stalls plus refreshments, starts at 10am and admission is free.

Cllr Francis added: "It's indoors, costs nothing to attend and will help to raise funds for the mayor’s appeal."
