AN APPRECIATIVE Horsforth resident has presented £150 to the town's In Bloom group.
Freda Varley, who lives near the entrance to Horsforth Railway Station, decided to raise funds after seeing the organisation's work in action.
A Horsforth in Bloom working group created a flower bed (pictured) by the ramp leading to the station, transforming what had previously been an eyesore, earlier this year.
Freda and her friends responded by watering the newly planted beds - which have been praised by Yorkshire in Bloom judges - and introducing themselves to the group.
A watercolour painter, Freda has also sold some of her works to raise money to support its work.
On Saturday, September 2 she attended a Horsforth in Bloom meeting at Horsforth Museum to present a cheque for £150 to the group's Chair, Horsforth ward Councillor Dawn Collins.
