OTLEY will be abuzz with the sounds of guitars and fiddles this weekend for the town's 26th Folk Festival.

The 2017 event, sponsored again by Black Sheep Brewery, runs from Friday, September 15 to Sunday, September 17 and will see dozens of acts playing at venues around town.

Some of the major artists playing this year include Belshazzar's Feast, Nancy Kerr and James Fagan, Jez Lowe and The Hut People.

A host of others, including Sam Dunkley, Kenny Piers, Duncan McFarlane Band, Robin Garside and Roisin Ban are also among the line-up.

Organiser Steve Fairholme is expecting a big turnout - and keeping his fingers crossed for clear skies.

He said: "There's been a lot of interest in this year's event and ticket sales are ahead of where they usually are so it's looking really good.

"There are lots of great acts to look out for including Grace Petrie, who's an up-and-coming political protest singer, along with established people like Belshazzar's Feast who are incredibly accomplished musicians.

"We'll also have a lot of street entertainment, including Morris dancing, and we're hoping for some dry weather so people can enjoy that.

"Once again we'll be using venues around town with the main ones this year being the Parish Church, the Methodist Church hall, Korks Wine Bar, the Courthouse, the Labour Rooms and The Black Horse Hotel."

The festival is running its usual campsite, on a field off Pool Road opposite Stephen H Smith's Garden Centre, from Friday afternoon until Monday morning.
