A FUNDRAISING coffee morning in support of an Otley man's triple marathon challenge will be held next week.

The event, featuring hot sandwiches and home baking, takes place at Our Lady and All Saints Church's Parish Centre, Clitherow House, from 9am on Friday, July 8.

Proceeds will go towards runner Danny Cooney's fundraising effort for three charities - the HCPT handicapped children pilgrimage trust, Martin House Children's Hospice and the St Vincent de Paul Society.

The coffee morning will be hosted by Deputy Town Mayor Councillor Nigel Francis (Ind, Danefield).

He will be joined by Linda Guy and Bronte Hogarth, from Sainsbury's Otley, and Tim Aga from the Yorkshire Runner, who are supporting the campaign.

Mr Cooney said: "Everyone is very welcome to come along and find out more about these three great charities and the work they do in our community.

"There will be more social events to come from September onwards, and I would like to thank everyone for all their support so far."

The runner completed his first 3 Marathons for 3 Charities race in Cork, Ireland, on June 6.

He will tackle the Dublin Marathon next, on October 30, and then the Lanzarote International Marathon, in the Canary Islands, on December 10.
