OTLEY residents can find out more about a number of charities this weekend.

Our Lady and All Saints Church is holding a Catholic Charity Day at its Parish Centre from 2pm to 6pm on Saturday.

The Sylvia Wright Trust, Little Sisters of the Pool, St Gemma's Hospice and Hang on to a Dream will be among the groups taking part.

Free to attend, the event will include talks on the charities and a raffle and tombola, with high teas and refreshments available.

Organiser and town councillor, Nigel Francis (Ind, Danefield), chairman of children's charity Hang on to a Dream, said: "The event is open to everyone in the area and we hope as many people as possible will attend.

"It is not a fundraiser but a chance for everyone to come along and meet people and have a good afternoon and some interesting conversation.

"This is a free community event, and I hope as many people as possible will attend. If all goes well, then we will look at repeating the event in a bigger venue."
