THE deadline is looming for the Ilkley Carnival programme cover design competition.

With just over a week left until the deadline on March 6, local children are invited to paint, draw or digitally design their interpretation of the Fantasy and Fiction carnival theme. The winning design will be showcased on the front cover of the event programme, which in 2014 was given to more than 10,000 visitors.

With more than 100 entries already received, Ilkley Carnival chairman Andrew Stacey is urging children, families and schools not to miss the deadline.

“With one week left we need to remind as many children as possible to get involved and not miss their chance to have their work seen by thousands in Ilkley at the carnival,” Andrew said.

The Carnival Cover Competition is open to anyone in the LS29 area between the ages of five to 16.

Entries are welcome from individuals or schools and local groups.

With sponsorship from Bettys Cafe Tea Rooms for the fourth consecutive year, age categories are aged five to eight, nine to 11 and 12 to 16. One winner will be chosen for the cover of the programme with the winners of each category receiving a goodie bag from Bettys and their framed artwork to take home on carnival day.

All entries must be received by Friday, March 6, and delivered in an envelope clearly marked Ilkley Carnival Cover Competition to: Suzanne Watson, Approach PR, 32-34 The Grove, Ilkley LS29 9EE. Please ensure your name, age, entry category, address and contact number or email is clearly written on the back of your entry.
