GAS mains work could bring up to eight weeks of disruption to the busy A65 road through Ilkley, starting today.

Northern Gas Networks has apologised in advance to the community for any disruption caused when two-way traffic lights are set up on 150 metre section of Leeds Road.

The work, to replace old metal gas mains with new plastic pipes, will take place between Leeds Road's junctions with Bath Street and Dean Street. It could take up to seven or eight weeks, the company confirmed.

A Northern Gas Networks spokesman said the new gas mains will ensure the continuity of the gas supply to the community.
