YOUNG actors are developing split personalities to perform in a production at Guiseley Theatre.

Three teenage actors will portray more than 20 characters in the performance of John Godber’s Teechers.

One of them, 17-year-old Lauren Gledhill, who plays the part of Gail Saunders, said: “Teechers is a multi-role play which means that instead of playing one character, we play a variety of different characters. We are putting a lot of work into getting the characters’ voices, physicality and personalities right.

"In parts of the play it is really hard because we change characters half way through a sentence. Some of the characters are on the other end of the scale from each other such as Hobby who is really relaxed and slow but then she will play Mrs Parry who is a very energetic eccentric person.

“This is my first acting performance. I’ve taken a big leap from performing one minute duologues in college for assessments to taking on a full script for the public. I’m constantly rehearsing and going over lines as I’m sure are the other two actors.

"Teechers has helped me with my confidence to use the acting skills that I know and have learnt and I now feel confident enough to use these skills with any acting piece I am given.”

Performances are at 7.30pm from December 11 to 13, with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
