THE LEADER of Leeds City Council has officially unveiled ten new “viewing” seats in Otley.
Councillor Keith Wakefield (Lab, Kippax & Methley) chose the most dramatically-positioned of the benches, at Jenny’s Cottage on Chevin Top, for the ceremony on Tuesday.
The wooden viewing seats were bought for the Chevin Forest Park using £2,000 from the sale of two books.
These books were The Kell Beck Walk and Otley – Past, Present and Future.
The resident behind those books, John Morgan, as well as others who were involved in producing the works, joined Councillor Wakefield for the grand unveiling in bright sunshine.
Each of the viewing benches bears a special inscription explaining their origin.
