A hair stylist is to wed his partner of three years after becoming the first Ilkley resident to register for a marriage licence as part of a same-sex couple.
Phillip Dawson, 36, will tie the knot with Joseph Stanger, 33, of Wakefield, in a ceremony at Chelsea Old Town Hall tomorrow. Mr Dawson runs salon The Loft on Church Street, while Mr Stanger owns a salon in Wakefield.
The couple met at a sushi bar in Leeds.
Mr Dawson said they decided to get married when they were on a romantic trip to Paris last year.
The couple are going to celebrate on the London Eye after the ceremony, before heading back to Paris for their honeymoon.
The Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013 came into effect on March 28, and Mr Dawson and Mr Stanger were the first at their local register offices to register for a marriage licence.
