Yorkshire Greenspace Alliance is holding a public meeting on Saturday, March 15, at Menston Methodist Church Hall between 10am and noon.

The organisation was formed in October 2013 by CPRE (West Yorkshire), WARD (Wharfedale & Airedale Review Development) and KCAN (Kirklees Community Action Network).

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the nature of public responses to the Bradford Core Strategy document as it is currently out for public consultation and responses need to be made to Bradford planning department by March 31.

Dr David Ingham, chairman of Wharfedale & Airedale Review Development, said: “According to this document, Bradford is aiming to build 42,100 houses across the Bradford Metropolitan district between now and 2028.

“It is intended to build at least 11,000 of these on green-belt sites in Wharfedale whilst many acres of brown-field land in the city centre are ignored.

“It is felt that many people will want to respond to this plan as it will mean many green-belt sites along the Wharfe Valley between Menston and Ilkley will be lost. In addition there are problems of inadequate social and transport infrastructure to be addressed.

“Everyone interested in this topic is requested to attend.”
