A group of students will be taking to the skies after winning top prize in an airline masterclass.
The ‘Aeris International’ team, from Horsforth School, will fly from Leeds-Bradford to London to get experience of British Airways. While there they will look to have a look around Terminal Five at Heathrow.
The students competed against 15 schools in the masterclass, staged by British Airways and Leeds-Bradford International Airport.
Former pupil Sally Beardsworth, of British Airways, and Beverley Walker, of LBIA, returned as volunteers to give advice.
Schools put forward teams of ten students to develop their business skills. Each ‘company’ was given a virtual budget of £200 million to set up and run their own airline.
The runner-up prize – a backstage tour of Leeds-Bradford International Airport – was awarded to students from Bradford Academy, for the best marketing strategy.
Students from Horsforth School’s ‘Pioneer Airlines’ picked up awards for the best teamwork. The award for the outstanding individual boy went to Max Green, also from Horsforth School.
