Grandparents of children at Ghyll Royd School returned to school for a day on Friday.
They enjoyed a wonderful day spending time with the children and taking part in their timetabled lessons.
Grandparents’ Day is held every year with 33 grandparents attending this year, who were also treated to lunch in Ghyll Royd’s new dining room and a tour of the school by Ghyll Royd’s head girl Lillaby Morse.
The grandparents also attended the Macmillan Coffee Morning, which raised £321 through the sale of cakes, many of which were baked by parents.
Mr Kevin Curtin, grandfather of George Curtin in Form 1, said: “It was a fantastic day. I really enjoyed being able to see the wonderful things the children do at Ghyll Royd and share the day with George.
“The children were delighted to have their grandparents in school, it was a very special day.”
Jo Jenkinson, headteacher at Ghyll Royd, said: “Grandparents’ Day is always a wonderful event and the attendance this year was tremendous.
“Ghyll Royd has a strong family ethos and it is therefore very important to allow grandparents to share in a key aspect of their grandchildren’s everyday lives. The day was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.”
