TO CELEBRATE and commemorate Leeds Year of Culture 2023 artist Keith Khan was invited to design 33 unique artworks to celebrate local communities and each of the 33 wards of Leeds.

From Keith’s visits to wards, he was inspired by local landmarks, historical facts, geography and stories revealed to him by the LEEDS 2023 Neighbourhood Hosts.

A spokesperson for Otley Courthouse said: "Inspired by our region's rich textile heritage, the 33 artworks were transformed by Keith into a textile design, which was then generously woven by British luxury brand Burberry, on jacquard looms at Burberry's mill in Keighley.

"With this beautiful fabric a unique collection of garments was created by local designers, makers and fashion students at Leeds Arts University. During Summer 2023, this garment collection visited communities. People were invited to wear their city with pride, building a photographic portrait of the city across the Summer.

"As a final ‘gift’ to each of the wards, each of the 33 artworks were woven by Burberry into a beautiful fabric wall hanging to be displayed in each of the wards. As the Arts Anchor Organisation for Otley and Yeadon we are very proud here at The Otley Courthouse to be able to give the stunning artwork a home for the future.

"The artwork for Yeadon and Otley will be on permanent display at Otley Courthouse which is open 10am-2:30pm for people to come and visit."
