THE Grove Bookshop in Ilkley is holding two author events next week.

Manager Mike Sansbury said: "We have two great events coming up, one with a French flavour and the other very much Yorkshire-focused.

"First, on Tuesday 18th July we welcome writer, comedian and chutney maker Ian Moore, who will be talking about Death and the Chateau, the latest in his cosy crime series set in rural France. Ian lives in rural France and is now officially a French citizen. Following the exploits of English B&B owner Richard Ainsworth and his longtime guest and sidekick Valerie d'Orcay, the book involves a film crew, a chateau and two sudden deaths. Tickets for this event are £5 which includes a glass of vin ordinaire and £5 off the book on the night.

"Then two days later, on Thursday 20th July, also at 7pm, we welcome author Adam Farrer who will be reading from his funny, moving memoir Cold Fish Soup. This is based on recollections of his upbringing in Withernsea on the East coast of Yorkshire. It's a story of love and community, family and friendship, seagulls and soup, and Adam is a warm, witty reader. Tickets are £5, including wine."

Ian Moore said: "I'm really looking forward to coming back to Ilkley and The Grove bookshop.

"I was there briefly last year to sign some books and the second you walk in, it feels warm. Bookshops are a vital part of the community and Ilkley has one of the best. I just hope they like a bit of French-based crime comedy!”

Adam Farrer said: "I'm incredibly excited to be returning to The Grove. I fell for it during my tour of Yorkshire bookshops last summer when my memoir, Cold Fish Soup, was published and again when I appeared at the Ilkley Literature Festival the same year. So, it's wonderful to be returning to the town once again, to discuss the book and answer any questions that come my way. It's always a particular delight to be part of an event in Yorkshire. Cold Fish Soup is set on the Yorkshire coast, and over the last year of promoting it I've found that audiences in the county not only relate to the book but are always quick to offer me a warm reception and plenty of chat. I'm sure the event at The Grove will be no different."
