HELEN Holmes, podiatrist at LFW Podiatry in Ilkley and Burley-in-Wharfedale has raised £5,528 for Dementia UK.

Helen had hoped to climb to base camp on Everest but severe altitude sickness on day eight of her climb, saw her having to be airlifted to hospital in Kathmandu when her oxygen levels sunk to critical levels.

Owner of LFW Podiatry, Lynda Forbes-Wake said: “In true form, Helen was not going to give up and after a short spell in hospital was cleared to do some lower levels trekking.

"Every penny raised has now been sent to the charity. The team at LFW Podiatry would like to thank everyone who donated to this worthy cause and a massive thank you to Helen for pushing the boundaries to raise such a fabulous sum during her expedition. We are so proud of you!"
