A FAMOUS illustration is included in a booklet produced by the Friends of Parkinson's Park to celebrate the Guiseley Jubilee Oak tree.

Yorkshire based artist Eleanor Tomlinson drew several illustrations at the death of the late Queen that superbly captured the mood of the nation, and spread like wildfire across social media. Unfortunately some people then used the illustrations on commercial goods without paying the copyright fee.

Director and Vice Chair of Friends of Parkinson's Park CIC, Jennifer Kirkby said: "When we were looking for a photograph to illustrate our Jubilee Tree Story booklet written by Bradford writer Irene Lofthouse who specialises in secret local stories, we asked Eleanor if we could use one of her drawings. We were delighted when she agreed, for the fee of a donation to The Prince’s Trust.

"The Trust is involved in helping young people find their self confidence; one of their current projects is to help ‘The Class of Covid’. The Trust says, 'the pandemic has been devastating for young people – crippling their self-confidence and robbing them of their futures. It has impacted their education, social lives and options for work, with those already facing disadvantage being left even further behind'.

"So, we were very happy to make that donation at Eleanor’s request as helping young people is a FoPP objective too.

"You will find the illustration at the end of our Forward on the Jubilee Tree and the Queen’s Green Canopy, before we open out into Danu’s Song telling the hidden story of trees in the Guiseley Gap throughout time; how they’ve interacted with our ancestors and what they’ve seen – culminating in their new baby sibling The Guiseley Jubilee Oak, planted for Queen Elizabeth II.

"The historic research came from the FoPP All Our Stories work as well as other local history sources. The booklet is illustrated with local pictures, some from our Jubilee picnic by Darren Sanderson. It’s a lovely souvenir of a very special and historic year.

"We’d like to thank Eleanor, Irene, and Darren, as well as designer Justin Leeming from Small Print, for all their hard work and input to our booklet – we try and support local arts and craft people."
