Police have arrested two men after a cannabis farm was discovered at a former restaurant in Apperley Bridge.

West Yorkshire Police attended a report of a suspected cannabis farm on on Apperley Lane around 11am on Thursday (December 29). 

A number of males fled from the scene into nearby woodland and onto the railway line. 

Officers searched the area and detained two men nearby. The pair has been arrested on suspicion of cannabis production.

A scene remains in place at the building and enquiries are ongoing.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service can also be seen outside the building.

Northern Powergrid is also at the scene whilst a vehicle appears to have been recovered.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Shortly before 11am this morning officers attended a report of a suspected cannabis farm at the former Moody Cow steakhouse, in Apperley Lane, Apperley Bridge.

"A number of males fled from the scene into woodland and onto the railway line. 

"Officers searched the area and detained two men nearby. They have been arrested on suspicion of cannabis production.

"A scene remains in place at the building and enquiries are ongoing."
