STUDENTS at Prince Henry’s Grammar School joined more than 30,000 young people across Yorkshire, as part of the Yorkshire Ambulance Service Restart a Heart Day.
“We are always looking for ways to educate our young people in their responsibilities as part of the wider community. It’s great to think that, with the Yorkshire Ambulance Service and their volunteers, we have trained over 1750 young people in our school alone,” said Lee Wilson, Assistant Headteacher – Learning Support.
The students were supported by volunteers from the local Ambulance Service and St John Ambulance.
The Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Suzanne Watson, also attended the event. She said: “It really was wonderful to see the engagement of so many of your pupils and to witness (and learn from!) the expertise of the First Responder and St John Ambulance volunteers.”
Yorkshire Ambulance Service staff and volunteers have taught more than 200,000 people CPR since the campaign was launched in 2014.
YAS organises the event in partnership with the British Heart Foundation, British Red Cross, the Resuscitation Council (UK) and St John Ambulance. Prince Henry’s has taken part every year, training the whole of Year 9, alongside other regular programmes in school, such as Sixth Form First Aid training.
