AN ILKLEY man has been slapped with an overnight curfew after pleading guilty to driving while disqualified.

James Heaton, 32, of Melville Grove, Ilkley, appeared before Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court on Thursday, March 3, 2022.

The court heard that on August 19, 2021, he drove a vehicle on The Grove, Ilkley while disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence.

Magistrates imposed a community order whereby the defendant must comply with electronic monitoring and be under a curfew for eight weeks, starting from March 3, 2022 and ending on April 28, 2022.

Heaton must stay at his home in Melville Grove, Ilkley, between 7pm and 7am.

He was ordered to pay compensation of £100, a surcharge to fund victim services of £95 and costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

He was also disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 11 months.

No separate penalty was imposed for using a motor vehicle on a road without third party insurance.
