A NEW mental health charity has been given a funding boost by a Wharfedale care home.
Burley Hall Bupa Care Home, in Burley-in-Wharfedale, has donated £1,000 to Talk Outside Of The Scrum.
The charity (TOOTS) was recently started by Bramley Phoenix RFC player James Griffin to help sportsmen and women who are battling mental health issues.
Mr Griffin visited Burley Hall to receive the donation and meet staff and residents.
He said: “Rugby players have it drilled into them from the moment they start playing rugby not to show weakness.
“Mental health issues aren’t a weakness, talking about it isn’t soft.”
Burley Hall’s General Manager, Jodie Boucher, added: “It’s a fantastic cause.”
