CELEBRITIES have been in touch with Otley Pub Club about this year's Yorkshire Day plans.

Twenty one of the town's inns will take on the name of regional star on August 1, 2018 after the club asked the public to nominate their favourites.

The winners included acting giants like Dame Judi Dench and Sean Bean along with sporting champions - such as Otley-born cyclist Lizzie Deignan - and musicians including Ricky Wilson of the Kaiser Chiefs.

The Pub Club has also invited all of the celebrities to actually visit 'their' Otley pub on Yorkshire Day - and Secretary Bob Brook says responses have now started to come in.

Posting on the club's website, otleypubclub.co.uk, he said: "We've now had responses from five of the 21 celebrities chosen to have a pub named after them.

"I'll keep you up to date throughout the early part of 2018 with more details of who we hope will be visiting."
