SIX students from St Mary’s Catholic High School, Menston recently represented the British Aikido Association at the World Championships in Switzerland.
Taking part in their first Senior International Tournament, the students all performed to a high standard and made a great impression in front of competitors from around the world, including Russia, Brazil and Japan.
Year eleven student Kitty Bolton won silver in the Kyu Grade competition with Milly Bolton, Year 13, winning bronze. The competition was of a very high caliber and the students took part in regular squad sessions for many months leading up to the competition, as well as lots of difficult sessions at their clubs.
The group are now looking forward to renewing friendships and aiming to compete in Japan in two years’ time.
