ANTI-bloodsports campaigners were to meet with the Leader of Bradford Council today about grouse shooting on the publicly-owned Ilkley Moor.
Ban Bloodsports on Ilkley Moor (BBIM) says it wants to discuss concerns about the impact of the shoot with Cllr David Green.
The group, which has organised petitions, protests on the moor itself, and a social media campaign opposing the ongoing sporting lease to Bingley Moor Partnership, claims records of nesting grouse and bag numbers have not been maintained.
They additionally claim environmental factors such as degraded heather, competition between natural predators and shooting parties, and a history of parasites in the grouse population has the potential to cause a ‘crash’ in the population of birds.
