ILKLEY Labour Party will begin its campaign for the general and local election campaigns on Sunday.
Tom Watson MP will launch Labour’s Election Campaign in Ilkley from noon to 1pm at the Craiglands Hotel, the day before Parliament is dissolved. Mr Watson is a former chairman of the Labour Party who played a prominent role in questioning Rupert Murdoch during the inquiry into phone hacking. He will answer questions regarding his book on the subject and on politics generally.
Mr Watson said: “When John Grogan was the MP for Selby he taught me how to organise an effective campaign on an issue in Parliament, even if that sometimes meant annoying the party whips! Keighley is one of the key marginal seats which the nation will be watching closely and I am delighted to be launching the election campaign in Ilkley.”
Free tickets are available by emailing keighleyandilkleylabourparty@gmail.com or phone 01535 602579.
