CENTRAL Ilkley shopping street The Grove is to get a £13,000 revamp in the coming months with joint spending by the town’s three ward councillors.
Repairs to pavement flagstones by the bandstand, a detachable post to prevent unwanted pavement parking, and planting of three new cherry trees to replace two in poor condition are part of the project, funded by councillors Martin Smith (Con, Ilkley), Anne Hawkesworth (Ind, Ilkley) and Mike Gibbons (Con, Ilkley).
The work, funded by money given to the three district councillors, will also include repainting 12 of the central street light poles and 39 bollards. Cllr Smith said the timescale for the work is subject to availability of materials and operatives and may it take a month or two.
