KIND-HEARTED pupils raised money to help other children enjoy themselves at a charity’s holiday camp.

Youngsters from the foundation classes at Queensway Primary in Yeadon gave the money to the Leeds Children’s Charity, which provides free holidays at its camp in Silverdale.

Children at the school decided to support the charity after raising money with their own Summer Fun Day. Pupils Louis Travis and Thalia Asher presented a cheque for £100 to Verlie McCann, chair of the charity.

Foundation leader, Kerilee Smoult, said: “All the ideas came from the children and they basically put the whole day together. When we had counted the money, the children discussed where they wanted it to go and it was Louis’ idea to help other children in Leeds enjoy themselves.”

Children from Queensway have benefitted from the charity’s work and attend Silverdale.

Family support manager, Maria Green, said: “The Children’s Charity has given some of our children fantastic experiences and memories. It’s always nice when, as a school, we can give something back to say ‘thank you’.”
