The Aspiring Women’s Network is calling upon the women of Ilkley and beyond to celebrate International Women’s Day by attending its ‘Inspiring Change’ event on Saturday, from 10am to noon at the Wheatley Arms.

International Women’s Day is held annually on March 8 at a time where women across the world are connected and united through a global web of rich and diverse activities.

The event promises two hours of inspiration, networking, listening to and meeting women who have proactively taken steps to change some aspects of their lives.

Vera Woodhead, organiser of the event, said: “There is the misconception that change has to be big and is something that other people undertake because they have the time, money and resources to do so.

“This is not so. Anyone can change an aspect of their life and this event will showcase some of the ordinary women who have gone on to do something extraordinary in their own lives. Sharing stories can inspire others to bring about small changes in their own lives.

“The speakers include Kathryn Wills who has gone from being a full-time stay-at- home mum of three girls to training to become a teacher at the age of 47 and Jackie Davison who left her role as the Head of Lower School at Harrogate Ladies College to run a vintage china hire company.”

In addition to networking there will also be practical advice and top tips from coach, Lisa Alto, on how to make change successful and lasting.

The event is free and is sponsored by The Wheatley Arms in Ben Rhydding.
