Local councillors are urging Leeds officials to throw out new plans to build housing on a field at Otley’s eastern edge.
An outline application to build 28 new homes on green land at East Busk Lane was recently rejected by planners.
But now a fresh bid is being made to create a housing development nearby, on a field on the opposite side of the narrow country road.
Otley’s three ward councillors have all pledged to fight the new outline plan.
Councillor Colin Campbell (pictured, Lib Dem, Otley & Yeadon) said: “Councillors Ryk Downes, Sandy Lay and I have discussed this with planning officers and cannot understand why the proposals have come forward.
“The access road is totally unsuitable and the loss of green fields is unacceptable.
“We are calling on Leeds City Council to turn this application down as quickly as possible and end the constant worry for residents about inappropriate development in the area.”
As reported last week, a line of trees and a hedge on East Busk Lane, near the application site, were recently removed – a move that shocked some local residents.
