Supermarket customers in Otley are being invited to support an annual voucher scheme that helps local schools and clubs get new sports equipment.
Sainsbury’s has launched its Active Kids programme, now in its tenth year, and expanded it so the goods on offer also include a range of new cookery and nutrition toolkits.
Teacher resource kits, developed in collaboration with the British Nutritional Foundation and the Department of Education, in anticipation of the new emphasis on healthy eating in the national curriculum, have also been produced.
Active Kids was strongly supported in Otley last year, when Otley All Saints C of E Primary School parents and pupils collected an amazing 16,627 vouchers which were used to kit out their school.
Sainsbury’s customers this year have until May 20 to collect vouchers, while local groups can also create an online ‘wish list’ – with 32 organisations from across the UK in line to have their wishes granted.
