PRIORY CHURCH: The services on Sunday are 8am communion (said), 10.30am sung eucharist and evensong at 4.30pm. The Liquid Family Service is at 9.15am on the first Sunday of the month. This service is aimed at youngsters and there are songs, activities and refreshments. Each Wednesday there is a communion service at 10am. All services are BCP. Last Sunday the Rt Hon Dr John Sentamu preached and celebrated at the 10.30am service to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Priory becoming a parish in its own right. Previously it had been part of the Skipton Parish. This was a great honour for the Priory and he brought his wife, Margaret, and his Chaplain the Rev Dr Daphne Green. The Duke of Devonshire and a congregation of more than 200 people attended the service to see and hear him. He met and spoke to everyone after the service as they came out. Everyone was then invited to a light buffet lunch in the village hall, the lunch being supplied by the Priory congregation. It was a magnificent spread and beautiful flowers were on display both in the Priory and the village hall and thanks have to be given to all those who contributed in any way.
