A TABOO-BUSTING show about how we deal with death is coming to Otley Courthouse.
Writer, performer and award-winning burial ground owner Liz Rothschild will present Outside the Box at 7.30pm on Friday, October 6.
The production sees Liz sharing insights and experiences that include mercurial tales and miraculous truths, collected over the years from life’s finishing line.
Outside the Box is described as 'a gently challenging investigation of the end of life, our societal reluctance to look it in the eye, the consequences of not doing so, and what’s possible if we do'.
The show aims to challenge the biggest elephant in the room using grace and humour.
It also asks the audience to embrace mortality and look on the bright side of life while ruminating on some surprising stories and pity commentary on the funeral industry from an insider.
Liz presents the show beside a half-made willow coffin to provide a light, physical reminder that death is always present.
Designed to be thought provoking and funny, Outside the Box is her first solo show since Breaking the Silence - which was shortlisted for the Amnesty Prize at the 2008 Edinburgh Festival and performed more than 100 times.
Tickets for the Otley performance cost £11 and can be booked by visiting otleycourthouse.org.uk, calling (01943) 467466 or popping into the Courthouse, on Courthouse Street.
