New Guiseley-based dance school Starlight Academy opened their doors for the first time wowing visitors with their impressive new luxury headquarters.

The Academy has recently moved into the Dance Mill - a newly renovated venue in the building of a former woollen mill on the Wendy Wools site on Netherfield Road in Guiseley.

It is run by Melanie Hadfield and Christine Braid.

The crowd started gathering in the reception area of the new dance studios around noon with visitors being encouraged to take a guided tour of the changing facilities with Starlight Academy pupils while the main studio spaces were kept behind a red ribbon.

Those taking up the offer visited two ample sized changing areas and a toilet area including baby changing facilities.

The first sight greeting guests when walking through the door was a beautiful custom-made reception desk complete with a 3D effect Starlight Academy logo.

The reception area also features a children's table and chairs, and a seating area with leather chairs and a coffee table, providing waiting parents with a comfy corner' more akin to a trendy coffee house than an industrial mill.

Guests were offered a glass of champagne or orange juice and gathered behind the red ribbon for the opening ceremony.

Mel Hadfield and Christine Braid, co-owners and founders of the Academy, spoke some heartfelt words reflecting on their search for premises that had led them to the Dance Mill.

An army of helpers were thanked for their assistance in bringing the teachers' childhood dreams of opening their own school into fruition. As the ribbon was cut visitors were led to the studio area, passing a large studio space before proceeding to a second, even bigger studio, where special guests from the Leeds Rhinos Dance Team (of whom Christine is a member) were waiting to give a special performance.

The doors were open until 4pm with many local mums, dads and children taking the opportunity to inspect the new premises and to enrol in classes.
