SALEM United Reformed Church in Burley-in-Wharfedale has been running its community cinema for quite some years now. It features the latest DVD releases, great sound system and even an interval where drinks and ice cream are served.
Over the years numbers have gone up and down as fans of the cinema come and go, but recent showings of the likes of Jungle Book, Florence Foster Jenkins and Jungle Book have seen the numbers rising again. The event takes place on the fourth Saturday of every month at the church all, with doors opening at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
Due to demand the Children's Cinema running Saturday matinees is coming back in January so if you're wondering what to do with your young ones on a Saturday afternoon, or don't fancy Saturday night TV, check out the Salem URC Facebook page for details of the next showing.
Entry is by donation and all children's cinema will show U certificate films only. The evening cinema will only show films up to a 12 certificate so are suitable for teenage children too.
